ROCA Investments, a local private equity firm, is acquiring a 20% stake in the entrepreneurial group Adrem, one of the most important players in the Romanian energy services market. The transaction will be subject to approval by the Competition Council and other competent authorities, the parties involved announced.
Corneliu Bodea, CEO of Adrem, a Romanian entrepreneurial business, stated:
“We will invest in projects that support the modernization of energy infrastructure, improve energy efficiency, and harness clean energy sources. Together with the current management team, we firmly believe that by welcoming this partner into our shareholding structure, we will further strengthen our commitment to transforming the energy industry and fostering a more sustainable society.”
Ionuț Bindea, Senior Investment Manager at ROCA Investments, added:
“ROCA Investments redefines investments through a vision centered on sustainable development, regional scaling, and positive economic impact. Adrem perfectly embodies these principles, being a business built on solid entrepreneurial foundations and guided by a future-oriented vision. We are committed to helping local companies grow into regional leaders, creating long-term value by investing in strategic sectors of the economy. Therefore, through this partnership, we aim to amplify Adrem’s positive impact within the energy industry, contributing to the development and modernization of this essential sector for the Romanian economy.”
Founded in 1992 as a family-owned business with 100% Romanian capital, the Adrem group now employs 1,600 people and operates an extensive network of over 30 offices nationwide. Recognized for its solutions and services dedicated to the energy sector, Adrem undertakes complex general contracting projects for B2B clients as well as energy efficiency initiatives for B2C clients. Its capabilities span development, modernization, digitalization, and maintenance of power grids, in addition to smart metering management. The company also develops and offers turnkey solutions for efficient and intelligent energy consumption—covering both B2B and B2C segments—such as photovoltaic systems, storage solutions, heat pumps, and electric vehicle charging stations.
Adrem is a local market leader in SCADA automation, an EPC contractor, and a pioneer in implementing Enterprise Asset Performance Management & Investment Planning (EAPM/AIP) solutions for Romanian distribution system operators. The group is actively involved in grid digitalization and national energy security initiatives, such as automating the BRUA gas pipeline, DN600 Ungheni–Chișinău, Isaccea 1, and Tuzla–Podișor. Among its key clients are companies such as Evryo, PPC, E.ON, Romgaz, Ford, and AFI Palace Cotroceni.
Adrem plans to use the funds from this investment to expand and diversify its EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects, support the development of renewable energy infrastructure, and accelerate the digitalization of power grids. These initiatives will create new growth opportunities, further modernize Romania’s energy infrastructure, and strengthen the country’s energy security.
